Time Use Survey

Information on time spent in paid employment, housework, care for family, personal care, voluntary work, social life, travels and leisure time, is only a part of interesting information we are going to learn thanks to the Time Use Survey.

It is aimed at collecting statistics on how persons spend time in working and leisure days, in what activities they are engaged and on the quantity of time they spend in these activities, as well as on socio-economic characteristics of household members. Data obtained by the Survey, which was for the first time carried out from 21 November 2022 to 26 November 2023 on the initial sample of 4 680 households, will provide useful information in the area of creation of social policies, in various scientific analyses and international comparisons, and, in general, in informing the broad public.

The Survey was carried out by authorised interviewers of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics in all counties and in the City of Zagreb. At the arrival in the household, interviewers had to display the official ID card which confirmed that they were authorised to carry out the Survey and to instruct the household members how to participate in it.

It must be pointed out that all collected data are confidential and considered an official secret, as well as that they will exclusively be used for statistical purposes, which practically means that they will be released as aggregates and that the identity of any household or individual who participated in the Survey will not be disclosed.

The results are planned to be released on 16 December 2024 in the form of the First Release.
