Survey on the Usage of Information and CommunicationTechnologies (ICT) in Households and by Individuals

The Survey on the Usage of Information and CommunicationTechnologies (ICT) in Households and by Individuals is conducted in the second quarter every year.

It is aimed at measuring the spread of the usage of computers and other information and communication technologies by collecting data on the number of individuals in the Republic of Croatia who use the internet and for what purposes, as well as at collecting and providing information on computer and information literacy of the Croatian population. These data are an important source for implementing policies in the area of information society in the Republic of Croatia and the European Union. The survey results are always released in December for the current year.

A total of 5 497 private households, selected using the random sample method, participated in the Survey in 2023. The household was taken as a sample unit, and one randomly selected household member, aged from 16 to 74 years, was interviewed in each household. In 2023, the data were collected in two ways: either the respondents self-administered the web questionnaire or they were interviewed by applying the CATI method.

The Survey is conducted on the basis of the Official Statistics Act (OG, No. 25/20), by which confidentiality and anonymisation of collected data are guaranteed, meaning that all collected data will be used exclusively in aggregated form for official statistics purposes and that the identity of any household or individual who participated in the Survey will not be disclosed.

If you participated in the last survey, or if you will be selected in the years to come, we would like to express our gratitude and to point out that your participation helps us to compile quality statistical data, which will be useful to state institutions in preparation and observing digitalisation in the Republic of Croatia and to scientists and experts who explore this domain.
