The prices of goods and services increased in April 2023 by 8.9% at the annual level
The highest increase in the division Food and non-alcoholic beverages
In April 2023, compared to April 2022 (at the annual level), the prices of goods and services for personal consumption, measured by the consumer price index, increased by 8.9% on average, while compared to March 2023 (at the monthly level) they increased by 1.0% on average.Observing the main divisions of the ECOICOP classification, at the annual level, the highest increase on average in consumer prices was recorded in the following divisions: Food and non-alcoholic beverages, of 15.7% (contribution to the growth of +4.17 percentage points), Restaurants and hotels, of 15.5% (+0.78 percentage points), Miscellaneous goods and services, of 11.0% (+0.69 percentage points), Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, of 10.8% (+0.62 percentage points), Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, of 8.6% (+1.46 percentage points), Clothing and footwear, of 8.0% (+0.49 percentage points), Recreation and culture, of 7.2% (+0.38 percentage points), Health, of 5.9% (+0.19 percentage points), and Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, of 5.1% (+0.26 percentage points).
At the monthly level, the highest increase on average was recorded in the divisions Clothing and footwear, of 6.2% (contribution to the growth of +0.38 percentage points), Restaurants and hotels, of 2.1% (+0.11 percentage points), Miscellaneous goods and services, of 1.1% (+0.07 percentage points), Food and non-alcoholic beverages, of 1.0% (+0.27 percentage points), Communication, of 0.5% (+0.03 percentage points), Recreation and culture as well as Transport, 0.4% in each division (contribution to the growth of +0.02 percentage points in the division Recreation and Culture and of +0.06 percentage points in the division Transport).
According to the main components of index (special aggregates), at the annual level, an increase in prices was recorded in the components Food, beverages and tobacco, of 14.0%, Non-food industrial goods without energy, of 8.8%, Services, of 7.8%, and Energy, of 1.4%. At the monthly level, an increase in prices was recorded in the components Non-food industrial goods without energy, of 1.8%, Services, of 1.0%, and Food, beverages and tobacco, of 0.9%. A decrease in prices was recorded in the component Energy, of 0.2%.
In April 2023 compared to April 2022 (at the annual level), the prices of goods and services for personal consumption, measured by the harmonised index of consumer prices, increased by 8.9% on average, while compared to March 2023 (at the monthly level) they increased by 1.2% on average.
