International Association for Official Statistics Conference 2022 held in Krakow

The focus was on useful information in challenging times

The Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics Lidija Brković participated in the IAOS 2022 Conference Worthy Information For Challenging Times, organised by the International Association for Official Statistics (IAOS) and the Statistics Poland. The focus of the Conference was on useful information in challenging times.

Among other things, the topic of the conference was the need to build shared data management in a time of large data inflows, the availability and possible use of new data sources that pose ethical challenges for official statistics, new statistical methodologies and technologies that can provide good statistics.

In times of short-term and long-term consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, climate changes and international commitments, data and official statistics are key to addressing these challenges, while a multiple approach is necessary to achieve relevance and strengthen confidence in official statistics.
