The Conference of European Statistitians (CES) is taking place on 20 and 21 June in Geneve and it is participated by Lidija Brković, Director General, and Marija Kamenski, Head of the International Relations Department, on behalf of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics. The Conference provides an important platform for addressing various issues and developing new guidelines in the domain of statisitcs, while the agenda for two days of the Conference includes topics concerning the improvement of the statistical system.

On the first day, the Conference has a joint day with the European regional committee of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UNGGIM: Europe), whereas a special attention is directed to two topics - use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLM) in official statistics and in geospatial work, as well as the implementation of the 2025 System of National Accounts (SNA) in the CES member countries.

Further on, the participants of the Conference also address the work of the High-level Group for the Modernisation of Official Statistics (HLG-MOS) and the outcomes of the recent in-depth reviews carried out by the CES Bureau. Moreover, the following documents will be submitted to the Conference for endorsement: Guidance on the role of national statistical offices in achieving national climate objectives, Subjective poverty measures and New version of the Generic Statistical Information Model (GSIM 2.0).

The Conference of European Statistitians is one of the oldest statistical bodies globally, with its roots in the League of Nations, and, over the years, it has played a significant role in promoting statistical development in its member countries.
