The prices in February 2026 increased by 3.8% at the annual level

At the monthly level, they increased by 0.3% on average

In February 2026 compared to February 2025 (at the annual level), the prices of goods and services for personal consumption, measured by the consumer price index, increased by 3.8% on average, while, compared to January 2026 (at the monthly level), they increased by 0.3% on average.

Observing the main divisions of the ECOICOP ver. 2 classification, at the annual level, the highest increase on average in consumer prices was recorded in the following divisions: Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, of 10.2% (contribution to the growth of +1.53 percentage points), Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, of 7.7% (+0.38 percentage points), Restaurants and accommodation services, of 6.3% (+0.35 percentage points), Health, of 3.8% (+0.11 percentage points), Recreation, sport and culture, of 3.7% (+0.15 percentage points), Personal care, social protection and miscellaneous goods and services, of 3.4% (+0.17 percentage points), Information and communication, of 3.2% (+0.19 percentage points), Food and non-alcoholic beverages as well as Insurance and financial services, of 2.9% in each division (contribution to the increase of +0.78 percentage points in the division Food and non-alcoholic beverages and of +0.06 percentage points in the division Insurance and financial services), and Transport, of 0.8% (+0.11 percentage points). The increase in prices at the annual level was alleviated by a decrease in the prices in the divisions of Education services, of 1.6% (contribution to the decrease of -0.01 percentage points), and Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, of 1.0% (-0.06 percentage points).

In February 2026, the prices of goods and services for personal consumption, measured by the harmonised index of consumer prices, increased by 3.9% on average compared to February 2025 (at the annual level). Compared to January 2026 (at the monthly level), they increased by 0.3% on average.
