News and results of the "I choose Croatia" measure, economic cooperation, sport and tourism - some of the topics discussed
The fourth session of the third convocation of the Council of the Government of the Republic of Croatia for Croats Abroad was held on 3 and 4 July 2025 at Plitvice Lakes. The session was also attended by Lidija Brković, Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, member of the Council of the Government by position.
The opening of the plenary session was attended by Andrej Plenković, Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, who addressed the attendees and pointed out that the aim of the Government is to further strengthen the financing of emigrants and to involve all ministries in the work of the Council in order to respond as effectively as possible to the needs of Croats abroad.
On the first day of the session, the topics discussed through the panel discussion were ‘Currents in relations with Croats outside the Republic of Croatia’ and ‘Economic cooperation, sport and tourism’ - which enabled the exchange of opinions and proposals in order to improve the quality of life of Croats abroad.
On the second day, the topics of demography, return and immigration to the Republic of Croatia were discussed, presenting various measures aimed at encouraging Croats to return to their homeland. The panel discussion "New Perspectives and the Role of Council Members in Relations with Croats Abroad" opened a discussion on the preservation of the cultural heritage of national minorities, networking initiatives and the preservation of Croatian identity and language.
The purpose of the Council is to preserve Croatian identity, language and culture among Croats abroad, strengthen ties with the Republic of Croatia and encourage return by implementing concrete measures and initiatives.
