National eVisitor platform and DGINS conference programme presented

Lidija Brković, Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, along with Ivana Brozović and Jasna Perko from the Tourism Statistics Department, participated in a bilateral meeting with the representatives of the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic, held on 23 - 24 June 2025, in Bratislava.

On the first day of the meeting, the eVisitor system was presented as a successful example of an administrative data source, whose data are used, among other things, to collect and process information in the field of tourism statistics. The accommodation register within Slovak tourism was also presented, along with a framework for managing sustainability in tourism. Special interest was expressed regarding the implementation of the STR (eVisitor) system in Slovakia.

On that occasion, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics introduced the programme for the upcoming DGINS conference. This year’s conference theme will be "European tourism statistics: A forward-looking and innovative response to 21st century user needs", focusing on the future of tourism statistics, especially in the context of sustainability, innovation, and data modernisation.

On the second day of the meeting, Jasna Perko and Ivana Brozović delivered a presentation on short-term accommodation offered through online platforms. The presentation was divided into two modules: Data on short-term accommodation offered through national online platforms in the collaborative economy and Development and implementation of deduplication methods for occupancy data. Following this, colleagues from the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic shared their own approach to the topic of short-term accommodation via online platforms.

The meeting allowed for the exchange of experiences, knowledge and good practices in the field of tourism statistics, with the aim of preserving and strengthening the cooperation between the two national statistical offices.
