Regular meeting of the European Statistical System Committee held

The concept of the DGINS 2025 conference, to be held in Split, presented at the meeting

Lidija Brković, Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, visited Luxembourg on 5 and 6 February 2025 for several important events. On the first day, she participated in the High-Level Workshop “Next Decade Priorities of European Statistics,” where heads of European statistical offices focused on setting priorities for the next decade based on user needs and the efficient use of resources, new tools and data sources.

On the second day, the Director General and Marija Kamenski, Head of the International Relations Department, participated in the work of the Expert Group “National Statistical Institutes of the European Statistical System” and at the regular meeting of the European Statistical System Committee.

One of the items on the Committee’s agenda was the future conference of directors general of national statistical institutes (DGINS), which will be held in Split this year. In October 2024, the European Statistical System Committee agreed that the focus of the DGINS 2025 conference, co-organised by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics and Eurostat, would be on the topic of “European tourism statistics: A forward-looking and innovative response to 21st century user needs”. On this occasion, the Director General presented the draft agenda at the meeting, i.e. a more detailed concept and structure of the conference that Croatia will host in October 2025. The conference in Split will discuss the future of tourism statistics, especially in the context of sustainability, innovation and modernisation of data.
