The prices in October 2024 increased by 2.2% at the annual level

The highest increase in the division Restaurants and hotels

In October 2024 compared to October 2023 (at the annual level), the prices of goods and services for personal consumption, measured by the consumer price index, increased by 2.2% on average, while, compared to September 2024 (at the monthly level), they increased by 1.1% on average.

Observing the main divisions of the ECOICOP classification, at the annual level, the highest increase on average in consumer prices was recorded in the following divisions: Restaurants and hotels, of 10.6% (contribution to the growth of +0.54 percentage points), Miscellaneous goods and services, of 6.7% (+0.42 percentage points), Education, of 5.3%
(+0.04 percentage points), Health as well as Recreation and culture, of 5.2% in each division (contribution to the growth of +0.16 percentage points in the division Health and of +0.27 percentage points in the division Recreation and culture), Food and non-alcoholic beverages, of 4.8% (+1.27 percentage points), Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, of 3.5% (+0.18 percentage points), Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, of 0.9% (+0.05 percentage points) and Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, of 0.2% (+0.03 percentage points).
The increase in prices at the annual level was alleviated by a decrease in the prices in the divisions Communication, of 6.3% (contribution to the decrease of -0.33 percentage points), Transport, of 2.5% (-0.35 percentage points) and Clothing and footwear, of 0.3% (-0.02 percentage points).

In October 2024, compared to October 2023 (at the annual level), the prices of goods and services for personal consumption, measured by the harmonised index of consumer prices, increased by 3.6% on average. Compared to September 2024 (at the monthly level), they increased by 0.8% on average.
