In September 2024, the retail trade turnover increased by 7.1% on an annual level

Eight trade branches recorded an increase in turnover

In September 2024, the total seasonally and working-day adjusted retail trade turnover of all business entities engaged in this activity was in real terms 2.1% higher than in August 2024. Out of that, the retail trade turnover of food products decreased by 3.5%, whereas the retail trade turnover of non-food products (except for automotive fuels and lubricants) increased by 10.0%.

In September 2024, compared to the same month of the previous year, the working-day adjusted retail trade turnover increased in real terms by 7.1%. Out of that, the retail trade turnover of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 0.5% and the retail trade turnover of non-food products (except for automotive fuels and lubricants) by 17.6%.

According to gross, unadjusted indices, eight of nine trade branches recorded an increase in turnover in September 2024, as compared to the same month of the previous year. A decrease was recorded only in the trade branch Automotive fuels and lubricants, which generated a fall in turnover of 5.5%.

The largest impact on the increase in nominal turnover in September 2024 compared to the same month of the previous year, according to gross, unadjusted indices, was recorded in the following trade branches: Textile, clothing, footwear and leather goods, with a rise in turnover of 20.3% and an impact on the total turnover of 1.6%, Non-specialised stores with food, beverages and tobacco predominating, with a rise in turnover of 4.0% and an impact on the total turnover of 1.4%, and Dispensing chemists, medical and orthopaedic goods, optical products, cosmetic and toilet articles, with a rise in turnover of 15.7% and an impact on the total turnover of 1.3%. Accordingly, the total gross retail trade turnover increased in nominal terms by 5.0% compared to the same month of the previous year.
