Challenges and opportunities in the labour market
The Statistical Day 2024 conference entitled “Employee - more than just a number” was held on 11 October 2024 in organisation of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia and the Statistical Society of Slovenia. The central theme of tnis traditional conference were challenges and opportunities in the labour market and how statistics can strategically contribute to better understanding of the labour market.
Within the conference, a round table was held, in which distinguished experts discussed current topics such as labour shortages, strategies for attracting and retaining talent, and intergenerational differences in the workplace. In addition, a discussion was led about the impact of technology and innovation on work processes and the responses of the national employment policy to the changing needs of the market. The importance of official statistics was specifically stressed in relation to forming of a better working environment and strategic planning in the domain of the labour market.
On the 80th anniversary of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia, this year's Statistical Day was also an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the Office and the importance of statistics in the development of the country.
The conference was attended by Lidija Brković, Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, Ivana Aljinović, Head of the Director General’s Office, and Dean Maslovara, Head of the Labour Market Statistics Department.
