Cooperation in the field of statistics related to children is in the centre of attention
Successful cooperation so far and opportunities to improve it were the topic of a meeting between Lidija Brković, Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, with Luisa Brumana, the UNICEF Representative in Croatia, and Marijana Šalinović, Head of the UNICEF Department for Child Rights Monitoring and Evaluation.
Special emphasis was placed on the TransMonEE initiative, i.e. on the international UNICEF questionnaire, which annually collects data on children in various areas of life within a standardized methodological framework. In cooperation with UNICEF, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics coordinates, namely, the process of data collection from all involved stakeholders (ministries, social security funds, etc.) and data validation at the national level.
Also, regarding the TransMonEE initiative, they discussed cooperation in the further development and harmonization of the metadata infrastructure for statistics related to children, especially bearing in mind the diversity of different data sources in that field and the need for the collected data to be in accordance with international standard definitions as much as possible. There was also talk about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) indicators that relate to children.
Ivana Aljinović, Secretary to the Director General’s Office, and Mario Vlajčević, the Head of Crime Administration System and Social Protection Statistics Department, participated in the meeting as representatives of the CBS.
