Inflationary expectations ꟷ one of the major topics
The far south of Croatia, Dubrovnik, to be specific, hosted the 30th Dubrovnik Economic Conference held on 14 and 15 June 2024. This international conference gathered numerous representatives of financial sector, financial institutions and central banks as well as a number of respected scientists. Lidija Brković, Director General, participated at the conference on behalf of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.
The conference was focused on the current world topic - inflation, raising a discussion on the very first day about formation of inflationary expectations, decision models in central banks, allocations in global supply chains and about influence of monetary policy on loan and deposit interest rates of commercial banks.
On the second day of the conference, the discussion was directed to the “green transition” of central and commercial banks and on implications of population ageing on public debt adn monetary policy.
The conference was opened by Boris Vujčić, Governor of the Croatian National Bank, and participants were also addressed by Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, and Zvonimir Savić, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister Andrej Plenković for Economic Issues, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Croatia.
