The meeting issues focused on further improvement of the statistical system
A regular meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC) was held on 22 May in Luxembourg and was attended by representatives of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics Lidija Brković, Director General, and Marija Kamenski, Head of the International Relations Department.
During the all-day meeting, representatives of national statistical offices of the EU Member States, the European Economic Area and Switzerland, as well as the statistical office of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) tackled many issues related to further development and improvement of the statistical system and, among other topics, discussed the implementation of the Data Management Regulation, the Compendium on innovative practices in the NSS and the future development of EMOS (
European Master in Official Statistics). Furthermore, the Draft Working Programme 2025, fifth in a row, which is an integral part of the European Statistical Programme 2021-2027 within the Single Market Programme, was also presented.
The Committee members were informed on the joint annual report of the EFTA Statistical Office and Eurostat for 2023 relating to statistical cooperation in the European Economic Area (EEA) and activities of the European Statistical Advisory Committee (ESAC).
Conclusively, the participants of the meeting also addressed the possibility of the enhancement of existing procedures defined in the ESSC Rules of Procedure and plans relating the celebration of the European Statistics Day.
