Study visit of Statistics Lithuania to the Croatian Bureau of Statistics

New roles of national statistical systems

The Croatian Bureau of Statistics is hosting a study visit from the delegation of Statistics Lithuania in the period from 10 to 11 April 2024. The topics of the visit are data stewardship, establishment of a central data lake repository and business analytics system, registers and administrative sources, and eVisitor.

Lidija Brković, the Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, hosted Jūratė Petrauskienė, the Director General of Statistics Lithuania, and Gita Literskė, Deputy Director General, to exchange experiences and deepen their future cooperation. She presented the statistical system of the Republic of Croatia at the beginning of the study visit and informed them about the work and projects of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.  

Jūratė Petrauskienė also presented the statistical system of Lithuania and, together with her colleague Gita Literskė, presented data management of Statistics Lithuania. Together, they explained how they see the new role of national statistical systems in the new data ecosystem and they presented the results of the Data lake project.

Tomislav Cviljak, the Director of the Information Technologies Directorate, and Iva Jukić from the Central State Office for the Development of Digital Society held a presentation related to the project “Establishment of central data lake repository and business analytics system”, implemented by the Central State Office for the Development of Digital Society, in which the Croatian Bureau of Statistics participates.

On the second day of the visit, representatives of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics will present registers and administrative sources, as well as statistical business registers and the tourist register, i.e. eVisitor, while the Lithuanian delegation will present the process of introducing the Statistical Population Register and the modernisation of statistical business registers in Lithuania.
