The City of Zagreb realised the most tourist nights
In January 2024, there were 231 thousand tourist arrivals and 594 thousand tourist nights in commercial accommodation establishments, which was an increase in arrivals of 1.0%, but a decrease of nights of 1.2% compared to January 2023.
Domestic tourists realised 113 thousand arrivals and 251 thousand nights in January 2024, which was 0.8% less tourist arrivals and 0.7% less nights compared to January 2023.
Foreign tourists realised 118 thousand arrivals and 343 thousand nights in January 2024, which was 2.9% more arrivals, but 1.6% less tourist nights than in January 2023.
The most foreign tourist nights in January 2024 were realised by tourists from Slovenia, as much as 47 thousand nights, which accounted for 13.6% of the total realised foreign tourist nights. Compared to January 2023, Slovenian tourists realised 8.1% less nights.
These were followed by tourists from Germany (10.4%), Austria (10.3%), Italy (8.9%) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (7.4%). Tourists from all these countries realised less tourist nights in January 2024 than in January last year, except tourists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who realised 3.8% more nights.
The highest number of tourist nights in the first month of this year was realised in the City of Zagreb, 133 thousand nights, which was 22.4% of the total number of tourist nights realised in Croatia. Compared to January 2023, tourist nights increased by 4.5%. The City of Zagreb was followed by the County of Istria (123 thousand nights) and the County of Primorje-Gorski kotar (92 thousand nights).
