Fundamental principles of official statistics in the focus of the heads of national statistical institutes
Lidija Brković, the Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, and Marcela Gracin Fagač, the Director of the Financial and Procurement Directorate, participate in the 55th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission, which is held from 27 February to 1 March 2024 in New York.
At this year's session, participants will discuss the fundamental principles of official statistics, national accounts, social and demographic statistics, population and housing censuses, and the change in Big Data analytics with a focus on Data Science.
The event started on 23 February 2024, when the heads of national statistical institutes participated in a seminar on data management. On 26 February 2024, the High-Level Forum on Official Statistics was held with a focus on the fundamental principles of official statistics.
The United Nations Statistical Commission, which consists of the heads of national statistical institutes of Member States of the United Nations, is the highest body of the international statistical system, which has the right to decide on issues of international statistical activity, especially in the setting of statistical standards, the development of concepts and methods, and their implementation at the national and international level.
