The largest increase realised in the groups Restaurants and hotels, and Food and non-alcoholic beverages
In August 2023, compared to August 2022 (at the annual level), the prices of goods and services for personal consumption, measured by the consumer price index, increased by 7.8% on average, while compared to July 2023 (at the monthly level), they increased by 0.5% on average.
Observing the main divisions of the ECOICOP classification, at the annual level, the highest increase on average in consumer prices was recorded in the following divisions: Restaurants and hotels, of 14.2% (contribution to the growth of +0.71 percentage points), Food and non-alcoholic beverages, of 11.0% (+2.92 percentage points), Clothing and footwear, of 9.9% (+0.61 percentage points), Miscellaneous goods and services, of 9.4% (+0.59 percentage points), Recreation and culture, of 7.7% (+0.40 percentage points), Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, of 7.5% (+0.43 percentage points), Health, of 6.6% (+0.21 percentage points), Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, of 6.2% (+1.05 percentage points), Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, of 5.5% (+0.28 percentage points), and Communication, of 3.5% (+0.19 percentage points).
In August 2023, compared to August 2022 (at the annual level), the prices of goods and services for personal consumption, measured by the harmonised index of consumer prices, increased by 8.4% on average, while compared to July 2023 (at the monthly level), they increased by 0.5% on average.
