Young people's interest in statistics encourages new challenges
Everyone already knows that the interest in the Statistics Competition grows year by year. However, Croatian secondary school students also delight us with their knowledge and effort year after year.
All teams demonstrated their mathematical knowledge and understanding of statistical data, but only the best of them took the victory. In category A, consisting of 3rd and 4th grade students, the victory was taken by team DOKTORI from Electromechanical School Varaždin. The silver medal also went to Varaždin, in the hands of the members of team GAVRAN from the First Gymnasium Varaždin, while the bronze medal, as in the previous year, went to Rijeka, namely to the Secondary School of Economics “Mijo Mirković” Rijeka, only this time to team STAT3TIMRI.
The best team in category B, in which secondary school students of the 1st and 2nd grade compete, is FJ from the Secondary School Novska. Students gathered in team MINISTRICE from the Secondary School of Economics Velika Gorica won the silver medal, while team LIMETE from the Medical School Varaždin won the bronze medal.
As in the previous three years, the public had the opportunity to choose the presentations from both categories that they liked the most. More than 13 thousand votes were collected in five days of voting, proving that the Statistics Competition is interesting for everyone, not just secondary school students. Team KABACCO from the XV Gymnasium from Zagreb won the Public Choice Award in category A, while team FJ from Novska, in addition to the gold medal, won the Public Choice Award in category B.
