Prices of goods and services for personal consumption 12.7% higher at the annual level

The highest increase in consumer prices on average was recorded in the division Restaurants and hotels

The prices of goods and services for personal consumption, measured by the consumer price index, increased by 12.7% on average in January 2023 compared to January 2022 (at the annual level). As compared to December 2022 (at the monthly level), they remained at the same level on average.

Observing the main divisions of the ECOICOP classification, at the annual level, the highest increase on average in consumer prices was recorded in the following divisions: Restaurants and hotels, of 19.5% (contribution to the growth of +0.98 percentage points), Food and non-alcoholic beverages, of 17.3% (+4.59 percentage points),  Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, of 16.6% (+0.96 percentage points), Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, of 15.9% (+2.70 percentage points), Clothing and footwear, of 13.8% (+0.84 percentage points),  Miscellaneous goods and services, of 11.7% (+0.73 percentage points), Recreation and culture, of 10.4% (+0.54 percentage points),  Transport, of 6.6% (+0.92 percentage points), Health, of 6.4% (+0.20 percentage points) and Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, of 5.7% (+0.29 percentage points).

An increase, at the annual level, according to the main components of index (special aggregates), was recorded for groups Food, beverages and tabacco, of 15.4%, Energy, of 14.3%, Non-food industrial goods without energy, of 11.9% and Services, of 9.3%. According to the main components, at the monthly level, increase was recorded for the groups Food, beverages and tabacco, of 1.3% and Services, of 1.1%, while decrease in the prices was recorded for groups Non-food industrial goods without energy, of 2.2% and Energy, of 0.7%, on average.
