Celebrating the day of one of the world's most important economic sectors

The World Tourism Day is celebrated on 27 September. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness of the role of tourism and show how it affects social, cultural, political and economic values throughout the world.

The data of the last ten years for Croatia show an upward trend in the number of tourist nights and the number of beds up until the pre-pandemic 2019.

Tourism, as one of the world's most important economic sectors, has suffered many blows during the COVID-19 pandemic. Travel restrictions, temporary closure of hotels, restaurants and cafes, loss of jobs, it all led to rethinking tourism, which is also the topic of this year's World Tourism Day. It is also an opportunity to think about how to jointly create a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient sector.

The following are Croatian tourism highlights.
