The third meeting of the Island Council held

New investments in island development presented

Lidija Brković, Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, participated in the third meeting of the Island Council, which was held on 8 September 2025 in the Island of Korčula. The meeting was officially opened by Andrej Plenković, Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, who emphasized on that occasion that the islands are a priority and a strategic asset of Croatia, and that the Government will continue to invest in their development.

The meeting was attended by high-ranking government officials, and key topics for the development of the islands were discussed - from sustainable housing and healthcare on the islands to improving municipal infrastructure and new investment projects.

According to the Islands Act, the Island Council is established by the Minister of Regional Development and European Union Funds as its advisory body in the preparation and implementation of programmes, plans, projects, measures and activities for sustainable island development, with the aim of improving island development policy.
