The prices in August increased by 4.1% at the annual level

The highest increase in the division Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels

In August 2025 compared to August 2024, the prices of goods and services for personal consumption, measured by the consumer price index, increased by 4.1% on average, while, compared to July 2025, they increased by 0.1% on average.
 
Observing the main divisions of the ECOICOP classification, at the annual level, the highest increase on average in consumer prices was recorded in the following divisions: Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, of 8.1% (contribution to the growth of +1.37 percentage points), Restaurants and hotels, of 7.5% (+0.38 percentage points), Food and non-alcoholic beverages, of 6.3% (+1.68 percentage points), Education, of 5.9% (+0.04 percentage points), Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, of 5.6% (+0.28 percentage points), Miscellaneous goods and services, of 5.4% (+0.34 percentage points), Health, of 5.1% (+0.16 percentage points) and Recreation and culture, of 4.0% (+0.21 percentage points). The increase in prices at the annual level was alleviated by a decrease in the prices in the divisions of Transport, of 1.3% (contribution to the decrease of -0.18 percentage points), Clothing and footwear, of 0.6% (-0.04 percentage points), and Communication, of 0.4% (-0.02 percentage points).

In August 2025, the prices of goods and services for personal consumption, measured by the harmonised index of consumer prices, increased by 4.6% on average compared to August 2024 (at the annual level). Compared to July 2025 (at the monthly level), they increased by 0.2% on average.
