The European Statistical System Committee holds the second meeting this year
The Director General presents the programme of the DGINS 2025 Conference, hosted by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics
Lidija Brković, the Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, and Marija Kamenski, Head of the International Relations Department, participated in the regular meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC) held in Luxembourg on 21 and 22 May. The meeting focused on strategic guidelines and technical issues that will shape the future of European statistics.Among the key items discussed on the first day were the draft work programme of the Commission for 2026, the modernisation of business statistics, the revision of statistics in the field of information and communication technologies, and the future of the European Master in Official Statistics (EMOS).
On the second day, the Director-General presented the programme for the DGINS Conference, which will take place on 22-23 October 2025 in Split.
She provided a detailed overview of the conference's concept and structure, and took the opportunity to invite the heads of national statistical offices from EU Member States to participate in the event and contribute to the exchange of knowledge and the shaping of guidelines for the future development of tourism statistics.
The theme of the conference will be "European Tourism Statistics: A Forward-Looking and Innovative Response to 21st Century User Needs." Discussions will focus on the future of tourism statistics, particularly in the context of sustainability, innovation, and data modernisation.
