Territorial Truths: Data as Indicators of Development - topic of the panel discussion with the participation of the Director General

Organised by the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, the conference ''Days of Regional Development and EU Funds'' was held from 2 to 4 December 2025 in Šibenik. The conference brought together representatives of local and regional self-government units, state bodies, development agencies, entrepreneurs, and other participants involved in regional development.

During the three days of the conference, many lectures, panel discussions and workshops were held to discuss key issues of regional development and EU cohesion policy such as investments in start-ups, industrial transition of Croatian regions, innovation policy aimed at solving local social challenges in Croatia, the importance of data as indicators of regional development and examples of good practice.

Lidija Brković, Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, actively participated in the panel discussion on "Territorial Truths: Data as Indicators of Development'', underlining the importance of statistics in planning and directing the use of EU funds as they enable the identification of needs in the field and also show whether investments have generated the expected outcomes.

The conference serves as a platform for the presentation of successful projects financed from European Union funds and programmes, as well as from national sources. It also announces new legislative and strategic frameworks in the domain of regional development.
