The 65th ISI World Statistics Congress took place
The Congress takes place every two years under the auspices of the International Statistical Institute
The leading global event for statistics and data science, the 65th ISI World Statistics Congress, brought together around 1 500 statisticians and data scientists from academia, official statistics, the private sector, central banks, statistical societies, and other communities in The Hague from 5 to 9 October 2025.Over the course of five days, the programme offered more than 250 lectures, useful workshops, and short courses delivered by experts in the field of statistics.
Some of the topics discussed included integrating mobile network operator data with official statistics, access to data from private data holders, the opportunities and challenges faced by national statistical institutes, and the future of artificial intelligence in official statistics.
During the session “Innovation in Social and Demographic Statistics”, Lidija Brković, Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, delivered a presentation titled “Further Improvements and Developments in Social and Demographic Statistics”. She outlined new data sources and methods, shared national examples, highlighted strategic priorities, and discussed further steps that are crucial for the development of official statistics.
On 9 October 2025, the General Assembly of the IAOS - International Association for Official Statistics, was held as part of the ISI WSC 2025 Congress, at which the Director General participated as a member of the IAOS Executive Committee for Europe and Central Asia for the period 2025-2027.
