The 10th International Conference on Agricultural Statistics held

Conference dedicated to promoting and applying best practices, research and innovation in agricultural statistics

The 10th International Conference on Agricultural Statistics (ICAS) was held in Krakow from 8 to 10 July 2026. The conference brought together producers and data users, including national statistical offices, international agencies, academics, and private sector representatives.

During the three-day conference, participants attended numerous lectures, panel discussions, and workshops, at which issues crucial to the development of agricultural statistics in the digital age were discussed. These included the resilience of food systems, sustainable agricultural production and consumption, the application of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, innovative data sources, and the use of statistical data in shaping public policies.

Lidija Brković, Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, participated in a panel discussion entitled: "Implementing SAIO: From Inputs and Production to Coherent, Policy-Ready Indicators". She emphasised that the future of agricultural statistics depends on better integration of existing administrative sources and registers, thereby reducing the burden on farmers and enabling the production of harmonised, higher-quality indicators relevant to shaping public policies. She also highlighted that the Croatian Bureau of Statistics is fully compliant with the requirements of the SAIO Regulation, with its work being based on a centralised institutional framework, a single register for sampling, and the validation of data at the micro level.

The ICAS conference is an important global platform for the exchange of best practices, research, and innovations that respond to the increasingly complex needs of modern agricultural statistics.
