After France and the Czech Republic came the last country of the rotating trio

If someone mentions untouched nature and clean air, furniture design, numerous patents and inventions, Minecraft, ABBA or meatballs and cinnamon rolls, only one European country can come to your mind. Of course, without any doubt, it is Sweden, a northern European country located on the coast of the Baltic Sea, which took over the presidency of the Council of the European Union on 1 January 2023.

There is indeed an abundance of interesting facts about this country, of which 10.5 million inhabitants make up 2.3% of the total population of the European Union. You are probably not aware of the fact that many of the components of your everyday life are precisely the inventions of the Swedes. Thanks to Håkan Lans and his invention of GPS, today we can easily navigate in space; without Anders Celsius, the temperature would still be expressed in Fahrenheit’s degrees; and the next time you pour milk or juice, remember that the tetrapak (tetra pack), you guess, is a Swedish invention due to Erik Wallenberg.

Something that the inhabitants of Croatia can certainly identify with the Swedes is the culture of drinking coffee, and this activity in Sweden has almost cult status, to the extent that it received its official name — fika.

Therefore, we invite you to make coffee in a real Swedish manner, sit comfortably and see if we have any other similarities with this country, which is going to preside over until July this year, after which it will hand over the “battle” to Spain.

You can also follow interesting posts about Sweden during January on social networks of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.

As the Swedes would say – njut av, i.e., in translation, enjoy it.
