Lidija Brković, Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, attends the meeting of heads of national statistical institutes (NSIs) on "Statistical Leadership in the Emerging Digital Societies", taking place in Stockholm from 12 to 13 April 2023, under the Swedish presidency of the Council of European Union, organised by the Statistics Sweden agency and Eurostat.

Two sessions were held during the first day of the meeting, and the Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics participated in the session dedicated to users entitled "User dialogue – involving expert users when changing the statistical product portfolio”. On the second day of the meeting, all participating heads of NSIs will discuss the development of statistical leadership.

With the development of digital society, European statistics must identify new user needs and address them by developing innovative methods of data presentation and new data sources, at the same time complying with the European Statistics Code of Practice. The focus of the meeting of heads of NSIs is therefore on the exchange of good practices related to cooperation with users and ensuring reliable, timely and relevant statistics, and on promoting user confidence in statistics in today's digital society.
