Statistical Day 2023 conference held on "Smart data for green energy transition”

The Statistical Day 2023 conference on "Smart data for green energy transition", which took place in Brdo pri Kranju on 27 September 2023 organised by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia and the Statistical Society of Slovenia. The conference was attended by Lidija Brković, Director-General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, and Edita Omerzo, Director of Spatial Statistics Directorate.

Already traditionally, the conference is a prelude to marking this year's European Statistics Day on 20 October. This year, the conference focused on the collection, analysis and use of data related to climate change and volatility of energy markets in order to better manage energy in the future and ultimately gradually implement the transition to green energy.

The participants raised the issue of data on the state of national and global energy markets. The discussion also addressed the current situation in the field of energy statistics and the data sources used in its production, as well as future data sources.

The outcome of the conference is that only high-quality, relevant and timely data can enable a successful green energy transition.
