Second Session of 3rd Convocation of Government Council for Croats Abroad

The focus is on current affairs concerning development of cooperation and demography

Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics Lidija Brković participated in the second session of the 3rd convocation of the Council of the Government of the Republic of Croatia for Croats outside the Republic of Croatia, which is taking place in Cavtat.

The Director General participated in the meetings of 28 and 29 June 2023 in her capacity as an ex officio member. The focus was on multitude of hot topics related to the relationship of the Republic of Croatia with Croats living abroad, such as fostering cooperation, current affairs concerning demography as well global recognition and foreign policy position of the Republic of Croatia.

The Government Council for Croats outside the Republic of Croatia assists the Government in creating and implementing policies, activities and programmes addressing Croats living abroad. The Council members are appointed by the Government of the Republic of Croatia on a proposal from the Croatian diaspora communities in their countries of origin. They comprise about 55 representatives of associations, organisations and institutions of Croats from all over the world who are engaged in the preservation and strengthening of Croatian identity. Besides representatives of Croats living abroad, appointed members of the Council are also representatives of state bodies, institutions, the Catholic Church and civil society organisations.
