Retail trade increases in March by 3.6%

Retail trade has continuously been growing since February 2021

In March 2022, working-day adjusted retail trade turnover increased in real terms at the annual level by 3.6% compared to the same month last year, which has represented a continuous increase since February 2021 after its decrease caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Compared to March 2019, that turnover was by 10.1% higher. In March 2022, seasonally and working-day adjusted retail trade turnover increased in real terms at the monthly level by 2.0%, as compared to the month before.
 
Nine of eleven trade branches realise increase in turnover
 
A total retail trade turnover, according to gross, unajusted indices, increased in nominal terms by 12.0% in March 2022, as compared to the same month last year. Nine of eleven trade branches realised an increase in turnover, of which the largest increase was realised in Automotive fuels and lubricants (of 37.6%), Other non-store retail sale (of 15.2%) and Electrical household appliances, furniture and other household articles (of 13.5%).
 
In March 2022, as compared to March 2019, retail trade turnover in nominal terms increased by 23.4%, of which the largest increase was realised in trade branches Automotive fuels and lubricants (of 42.0%), Other non-store retail sale (of 31.0%), Other non-specialised stores (of 28.4%) and Electrical household appliances, furniture and other household articles (of 28.3%).
 
In March 2022, as compared to the month before, according to gross, non-adjusted indices, eleven trade branches recorded an increase in turnover. The largest increase was realised in trade branches Automotive fuels and lubricants (of 34.1%), Electrical household appliances, furniture and other household articles (of 27.7%), Computer equipment, books and other articles (of 23.3%) and Other non-specialised stores (of 19.9%).
 
In March 2022, the turnover of retail sale via internet or via mail order increased by as much as 2.9%, as compared to the month before.
