Retail trade continued to grow in February

​In February 2022, the real, working-day adjusted retail trade turnover increased by 0.3%

In February 2022, the real working-day adjusted turnover of retail trade in the Republic of Croatia increased at the annual level, by 0.3% compared to the same month of the previous year, thus maintaining continuous growth. This turnover was 9.1% higher than in February 2019. In February 2022, at the monthly level, the seasonally and working-day adjusted retail trade turnover was in real terms 1.6% higher compared to the previous month.

Growth in almost all trade branches

According to gross, unadjusted indices, the total retail trade turnover increased by 9.2% in nominal terms in February 2022, compared to the same month of the previous year. Ten out of eleven trade branches recorded an increase in turnover, with the largest one being recorded in Automotive fuels and lubricants (of 21.9%), Other non-store retail sale (of 17.8%), and Electrical household appliances, furniture and other household articles (of 12.1%).

In February 2022, as compared to February 2019, the nominal retail trade turnover increased by 20.0%, with the largest increase being recorded in trade branches Retail trade via Internet or via mail order (of 34.6%), Other non-specialised stores with non-food products predominating (of 32.8%) and Computer equipment, books and newspapers (of 29.6%).

Retail sale via Internet continued to decline

In February 2022, as compared to the previous month, according to gross, unadjusted indices, there was an increase in turnover in seven trade branches. The largest increase was recorded in trade branches Electrical household appliances, furniture and other household articles (of 14.3%), Other non-store retail sale (of 12.7%), Computer equipment, books, newspapers and other (of 10.0%) and Other non-specialised stores (of 7.0%). In February 2022, as compared to the previous month, the turnover of retail sale via Internet decreased by 4.6%.
