Celebrating 150 Years of Croatian statistics continues

On the occasion of the great jubilee - 150 years of Croatian statistics - the President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović received a delegation from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.

This year, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics marks 150 years since the establishment of the National Statistical Office in 1875, which was the beginning of the systematic collection and processing of data in Croatia. The anniversary is celebrated throughout the year with a series of activities promoting the importance of statistics in everyday life - from the creative exhibition ‘Meet the Horvats’ in Zrinjevac Park and a central ceremony with a panel discussion on ‘The future of official statistics: Opportunities and Challenges in the Digital Age’, and now with a ceremonial reception with the President of the Republic of Croatia.

The employees of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, led by Director General Lidija Brković, in an interview with the President, recalled their activities and achievements so far.



Lidija Brković, Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, pointed out that the Bureau applies best practices, whether through the exchange of experiences within the European Statistical System and cooperation with Eurostat, the OECD and the UN, or through specific projects and international standards.

In addition to the Director General of the Croatian Bureau, the following employees of the Bureau also attended the reception in the Office of the President of the Republic: Linda Kasalo Malić, Andrea Galić Nagyszombaty, Marija Miri, Vanja Mastelić, Marcela Gracin Fagač, Ivana Aljinović, Tomislav Cviljak, Suzana Šamec, Branka Ostrman, Milenka Čačić Primorac, Nada Pejić, Marija Kamenski, Janko Kraševac and Silvija Hasanec Matanović.

Along with President Milanović, the meeting was attended by Velibor Mačkić, the President's special adviser for economics.
