Ongoing International Conference “Better Lives 2030: Mobilizing the Power of Data for Africa and the World”

Experts from around the globe discuss the importance of official statistics in modern society

Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, Lidija Brković, participates in the Zambia Conference “Better Lives 2030: Mobilizing the Power of Data for Africa and the World”, which takes place from 4 to 6 April 2023 in Livingstone. The conference is at the same time the 17th International Association for Official Statistics Conference and 3rd International Statistical Institute Regional Statistics Conference.

A session entitled “Data Governance, Data Stewardship, and Official Statistics: European Perspective" will take place as part of the Conference, in which the Director General participates as a panellist.

This international conference brings together a large number of experts from all over the world, and panel discussions will address topics such as the importance of good communication of official statistics for informing modern societies, statistics in the scientific landscape, the modernizing census with Geographic information system (GIS), the use of new data sources for statistics and new statistical products, including fundamental principles and governance of official statistics.

The Conference is jointly organised by the International Association for Official Statistics, International Statistical Institute and the Zambia Statistics Agency – ZamStats.
