Official completion of the accession process of the Republic of Croatia to the OECD Committee for Statistics and Statistical Policy
The Croatian Bureau of Statistics has received an official letter from the Chair of the Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on the successful completion of the review of the accession of the Republic of Croatia to the OECD Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy.
The Croatian Bureau of Statistics was commended for a very well developed legal and institutional framework, widely aligned with the OECD Recommendations on Good Statistical Practice, and for its effectiveness as the coordinator of the Croatian Statistical System. Strong commitment to quality including effective quality management based on the Total Quality Management model, a quality database and production of quality indicators according to the Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM) was emphasised. The well-established and widely recognised professional independence of the producers of official statistics and a solid statistical infrastructure are cited as prominent advantages.
The delegation of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics led by Lidija Brković, Director General, received special thanks for the excellent cooperation with representatives of the Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy of the OECD during the accession review and for ongoing engagement in the work of the aforementioned Committee.
It should be kept in mind that, in June 2024, the delegation of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics participated in the 21st meeting of the Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy, held at the OECD headquarters in Paris, during which an official discussion was held on the accession of the Republic of Croatia to the OECD.
