New Statistics in Line - Intermodal Transport published
Quantifying intermodal transport with statistical data is of increasing importance
The Croatian Bureau of Statistics has published new Statistics in Line - Intermodal Transport. Using the existing statistical data within each individual transport area (road, railway, seawater transport and inland waterway transport), a bottom-up approach was applied in the modelling of intermodal transport chains, and from now on, you will be able to find out which types of transport are used to transport intermodal transport units. You will also be able to customise the display according to the types of transport, loading and unloading zones, and transport flows of goods, and data from 2014 to 2022 are available.Intermodal transport has been created as an answer to the question of how to transport freight to its destination and end users as efficiently and quickly as possible, with as little expense, freight manipulation and human labour as possible. Whether it is a container, swap body or a freight vehicle, intermodal transport is characterised by the fact that the goods in the transport unit are not handled when changing transport modes. Less energy and time is thus spent on transport, with a greater effect at the same time, because the transport unit is at the same time a storage unit that is being handled. In other words, the transport process is optimised and its reliability is ensured.
The establishment of international and national intermodal transport and its quantification with statistical data is of increasing importance. By publishing new Statistics in Line, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics has made a significant contribution to the development of the transport system.
