Number of fatalities in 2022 lower than previous year

In 2022, there were 10 005 road traffic accidents with casualties in the Republic of Croatia, which was 9.4% more than in 2021. A total of 275 persons were killed, which was 17 participants or 5.8% less than in 2021. The number of the injured participants totalled 13 329, which was 1 411 or 11.8% more than in 2021.

In the period from 2010 to 2022, the number of people killed in traffic accidents almost continuously decreased. This was particularly the case during the pandemic year of 2020, with 237 people recorded killed in traffic accidents, which was the year with the lowest number of people killed in traffic accidents for the past decade. However, it is important to note that the year 2021, with 292 people killed, and the year 2022, with 275 people killed in traffic accidents, were the years with the lowest number of people killed in traffic accidents (following the above-mentioned pandemic year of 2020).
