Lidija Brković, the Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, participated in the final conference of the project "Introduction of a quality management system in the public administration of the Republic of Croatia" within Operational Programme "Effective Human Resources 2014 – 2020", which was held in Zagreb on 5 June 2023. It is a project of the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration and the National School for Public Administration (as a partner in the project) that will contribute to a more effective operation of public administration.

As part of the conference, the Director General participated in the panel "Quality management in public administration bodies – experiences from the ESF project, sustainability, challenges and solutions", where she presented the experiences and challenges of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics in introducing a quality management system and the value added of introducing such a system.

The Director General pointed out that the total quality management model, which has been applied in the Croatian Bureau of Statistics since 2015, has proven to be a good choice in the statistical environment because it implies a focus on users and continuous improvement of the quality of statistical products, processes and services. She further emphasised that the framework of the total quality management in the Croatian Bureau of Statistics is focused on the quality of statistical processes, products and services, user satisfaction with statistical data, reduction of the burden on respondents, efficiency of statistical processes and career counselling of employees.
