A step forward in keeping up with modern trends in tourism

The Croatian Bureau of Statistics has published experimental data entitled Short-Stay Accommodation in Croatia Offered Via Online Platforms, which refer to bookings made via online platforms such as Airbnb, Booking, Expedia and Tripadvisor. It is an important step forward in keeping up with modern trends in tourism and the growing role of online channels.

New indicators have been introduced to monitor more precisely the impact of online platforms on the short-stay tourist accommodation market. They are based on Eurostat sources and include bookings and tourist nights in the group Holiday and other short-stay accommodation. This provides additional insight into the structure and dynamics of the aforementioned segment within the collaborative economy, which includes online intermediation between users and service providers.
