Bilateral meeting held in DZS as part of EC officials’ study visit to Croatia

Strategic interests of European official statistics were on the agenda

Lidija Brković, Director-General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, and Guillermo Dávila Muro, Adviser to the Director-General and Deputy Director-General of Eurostat for interinstitutional relations, held a bilateral meeting on 9 October 2023.

Legal and institutional framework of the national statistical system and the results of the Peer Review on compliance of the statistical system of the Republic of Croatian with the European Statistics Code of Practice 2021 – 2023 were presented at the meeting and strategic interests of the European official statistics were discussed.

The participants highlighted the importance of developing official statistics in order to respond to growing users’ demands for data, especially in emergency situations.

The meeting was held as part of the regular cooperation of the European Commission with the Member States of the European Union. The study visit of the European Commission officials is taking place in Zagreb from 9 to 11 October 2023 and is hosted by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.

The purpose of the visit is to enable the EC officials to get a better understanding of political, administrative and other structures of the Republic of Croatia, which in turn contributes to strengthening relations and mutual trust between the national administration of the Member State and the European Commission services.
