55th Meeting of the European Statistical System Committee was held

Lidija Brković, Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, and Marija Kamenski, Head of the International Relations Department, participated in the 55th Meeting of the European Statistical System Committee, which was held in Luxembourg on 8 and 9 February 2024.

Leaders of national statistical institutes discussed the European strategy for environmental accounts 2024 - 2028, the final draft of the Statistical Classification of Products by Activity, timeliness of social protection indicators, the report from the Commission to the European Parliament and the Council on the implementation of Regulation (EU) 2018/1091 on integrated farm statistics, the Final Report on the Results of the Third Round of Expert Evaluation of the degree of harmonisation of national statistical institutes with the Code of Practice of European Statistics, the ESS contribution to the Common European Data Spaces and the Report on the Work of the Expert Group on European Statistical System Strategic Communication.

In addition, the Committee informed the leaders of national statistical institutes about preparations related to the DGINS Conference, which is scheduled for October 2024 in Estonia, as well as about preparations related to the conference on statistical literacy, which will be held in May 2024 in Belgium.
ESSC received the annual report from the chair of the European Statistical Governance Advisory Board (ESGAB) and was also informed about the recent developments in territorial classifications.
