54th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission

"Better Data, Better Lives" theme in focus of heads of national statistical institutes 

Director-General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, Lidija Brković, and Director of the Finance and Procurement Directorate, Marcela Gracin Fagač, take part in the 54th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission, taking place in New York from 28 February to 3 March 2023.

The theme of the session is "Better Data, Better Lives", and members of the Statistical Commission will discuss and decide on data and indicators for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, regional statistical development, basic principles of official statistics, and statistical capacity development.

The Statistical Commission of the United Nations, which consists of the heads of national statistical institutes of member countries of the United Nations, is the highest authority of the international statistical system with decision-making rights on issues regarding the international statistical activity, especially in setting statistical standards, developing concepts and methods and their implementation at the national and international level. The Statistical Commission consists of 24 member countries of the United Nations, elected by the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on the basis of a geographical distribution.
