4.3 million tourist arrivals and 25.3 million tourist nights realised in July 2022
Double-digit increase in tourist arrivals and nights in July 2022 compared to July of the previous year
In July 2022, there were 4.3 million tourist arrivals and 25.3 million tourist nights in commercial accommodation establishments, which was an increase of 22.9% in tourist arrivals and of 20.6% in tourist nights compared to July 2021. Compared to the pre-pandemic July 2019, there were 0.4% more tourist arrivals, who realised 1.0% less nights.The largest number of nights were realised in the County of Istria, as much as 7.4 million, which was 20.6% more than in July 2021. The city with the highest number of nights realised in July 2022 was Rovinj, with
993 thousand nights.
Domestic tourists realised 335 thousand arrivals and 1.6 million nights in July 2022, which was a decrease of 8.8% in tourist arrivals and of 8.9% in tourist nights compared to July 2021. Compared to July 2019, domestic tourists realised 14.7% more arrivals and 8.9% more nights.
Foreign tourists realised 4.0 million arrivals and 23.7 million nights in July 2022, which was 26.6% more arrivals and 23.2% more nights. Comparing arrivals and nights with July 2019, there were 0.7% less foreign tourists, who realised 1.6% less nights.
Tourists from Germany realised 5.0 million nights.
The most foreign tourist arrivals and nights in July 2022 were realised by tourists from Germany, as much as 676 thousand arrivals and 5.0 million nights, which accounted for 21.2% of the total foreign tourist nights. Those were followed by nights realised by tourists from Slovenia (11.8%), the Czech Republic (9.6%), Poland (9.0%) and Austria (7.7%).
The most tourist nights in July 2022 were realised in rooms, apartments and summer houses, that is, 14.2 million nights, which was an increase of 19.6% compared to July 2021. However, compared to July 2019, there were 2.5% less nights in this type of accommodation.
