Industrial production is a process that results in finished industrial products (industrial services) defined by the Nomenclature of Industrial Products (NIPUM 2023).
Industrial production volume is expressed by an index and is an important short-term indicator of a business cycle, which is used to monitor changes in the production in the industrial sector. It is harmonised with international regulations and is calculated using the Laspeyres formula.
The indices are first calculated from data on the produced quantities of individual products according to the NIPUM 2023, multiplying them with adequate weighting coefficients. After that, all indices of groups and higher levels are weighted with shares in the value added of individual industrial activities across the levels of National Classification of Activities, 2007 (NKD 2007.).
